Engagement Process
A planning engagement is a piece of advisory work with a beginning, a middle, and a document at the end. This page describes what each stage looks like and what you receive.
The shape of an engagement
Every engagement runs the same four stages. The depth of each stage scales with the question — a cash-flow review spends most of its time in analysis; a succession review spends more in scoping — but the stages themselves do not change. You always know which stage you are in, and what is due to arrive next.
The four stages
1 · Scoping call
A short conversation, at no fee, to confirm that your question is one advisory work can genuinely help with. You describe the property and the decision in front of you; we say plainly whether an engagement is the right response or whether you need a different kind of professional first. If the fit is right, we agree the engagement type and quote the fee in writing. If it is not, the call ends there.
2 · Documents in
You send the documents the engagement needs — title deed, rental statements, mortgage or tax letters, and the holding structure papers — and nothing more. We ask only for what the specific engagement requires, and we hold it only for as long as the engagement runs plus the retention period set out in our privacy policy. Documents arrive through the same-domain inquiry handler on this site or by direct email; we do not use third-party file-sharing services.
3 · Analysis
We model the question against your real numbers. A cash-flow review builds a twelve-month picture from your statements; a tax-position mapping sets out which tax rules apply to the income and where it must be reported; a succession review examines the holding structure against what happens to it next. This is the quiet middle of the work, and it is where the engagement spends most of its time. We do not produce a template output and fill your numbers in; each analysis is built from your documents.
4 · Written plan and walk-through
You receive a written plan, followed by a call to walk through it together. The document states what we looked at, what we found, and the options that follow — in plain language, with the numbers behind each option. What you do with it is your decision. The engagement ends when the document is delivered and the walk-through is complete; there is no ongoing retainer and no obligation to begin another engagement.
Common questions before you begin
Do I need to be in Phuket to start an engagement?
No. The scoping call and the walk-through can both be held by video call. Documents can be sent through the inquiry handler on this site or by email. Several of our engagements run entirely with the owner abroad.
Is the written plan a tax filing or a legal document?
It is neither. A plan is advisory analysis in writing. Where the engagement shows that a filing, a legal restructuring, or a regulated product is needed, the plan says so and we refer you to a regulated provider — and we do not file taxes, draft legal documents, or sell products.
How is the fee set?
Each engagement carries one flat fee, quoted in THB and fixed in writing before stage two. We bill nothing by the hour and accept no commission from any third party. If the scope shifts mid-engagement, we flag it before going further and re-quote where the shift is material.
What happens to my documents after the engagement ends?
We retain the working files for the period set out in our privacy policy and then delete them. You keep the written plan; we do not keep an open file on you and there is no retainer.
Begin
If you recognise your question in one of the three engagements, book a consultation and say which one fits. If you are not sure, the scoping call is exactly the place to find out.
